Young Adult Literature for GCSU Class
A blog with reviews of young adult literature for a new class at GCSU. Not all of the books are fantasy related, but several of them are. This is a relatively new blog with only a handful of reviews at the moment, but it could be a good site to check periodically for her summary on a book and any suggestions she sees for it in classroom use.
Wands and Worlds
This website is run by Sheila Somerlock Ruth and David Ruth. The website is a wonderful place to find that next fantasy book you want to read. Say you know the name of the author of a book you really liked, well simply go to the "Browse Authors" section find the author in the alphabetized list and click on the author. Then the books by that author are listed and you can read descriptions of books and reviews for some of them by Shelia or David and see the rating they gave to the book. You can also see what "Subject" the book is part of and click on that to see other books on the same topic. For example you just finished book 3, Ptolemy's Gate of Johnathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy and you don't know what to read next. Well you could click on one of the 5 subjects (demons, dystopia/repressive government, genies/djinni, magic, magical items) that the book is categorized under and review titles under one of the same subjects. In addition, the site hosts a fan forum for science fiction and fantasy fans to come together to discuss the happenings of the genre.
